Foulevo

Field notes · Two views of an outing

The record of your sport. The joy of being together.

Strava and Foulevo can accompany the same outing. What changes is the emphasis given to results, the group and the wish to meet again.

The difference in one sentence

Two priorities that can come together.

Strava helps you track what you've done; Foulevo encourages you to decide who you'll go out with next time.

Strava also offers clubs, events and conversations. At Foulevo, we simply choose to put the pleasure of being together first, without rankings between members.

See the three moments of an outing

Before · During · After

One outing, two complementary perspectives.

This journey shows what each app emphasises. It doesn't reduce either one to a single way of enjoying sport.

01 Before the outing

Choose to set off

With Strava

Find routes, clubs or events to inspire you to move.

With Foulevo

Start with a concrete suggestion: with whom, where and in what spirit do you want to share this outing?

02 During the outing

Enjoy the moment

With Strava

Record your activity, then look back at the route and the effort you made.

With Foulevo

Meet for a session with a stated activity, level and pace.

03 After the outing

Keep the momentum

With Strava

Look back at your route, data, progress and community's reactions.

With Foulevo

Remember the people you've met and keep the wish to share another outing.

You can enjoy an activity's numbers and the conversations that went with it.

In this article

There's the outing you look back on through a map, with its kilometres and time. And there's the one you tell about starting with “remember that moment?” They can both be the same outing.

If you enjoy tracking your activities on Strava, you can also use Foulevo to meet the people you'd like to head out with. These uses complement each other without an automatic connection between the apps.

01 / The starting pointThe priority changes

Track your effort. Choose your companions.

Strava lets you record activities, revisit routes and observe your progress. You can also compare some efforts, especially on ranked segments. But Strava has an active collective life too: clubs, events, posts and conversations are part of the experience.

Foulevo starts with the question “who would I like to go out with?” A walk for a chat, a run at your own pace, a hike to get to know people: the session is an invitation to share a moment outdoors. You come for the pleasure of being together, to progress, or for both.

02 / Before setting offA wish that becomes a meeting

An outing is already inviting when you know who you'll go with.

Imagine a running invitation that gives the time, meeting point, ability levels welcomed and a few words about the group's atmosphere. You can ask yourself whether the outing suits you and join the session according to its participation rules. Exact directions and session conversations are reserved for accepted participants.

During the outing, the group moves together. One person records the activity in Strava, another notices a beautiful view, a third starts a conversation that makes everyone smile. Each person brings something to the same shared moment: a record of the route, a photo taken together or a few words you'll remember on the way home.

A place for everyone

You might want to chat while walking or train with people who enjoy progressing. Both pleasure and progress have their place.

03 / After the outingThe memory is still yours

A card to remember the people too.

Glad you met people through Foulevo? A Foulevo Card can give them a place in your Strava memory too: a group photo, a few words about meeting, the pleasure of having shared this outing. With their permission for the photo, you also tell what made that moment precious.

Once the session ends, “My memories” in Foulevo lets you create a Foulevo Card with a photo you have permission to share. You choose what to display: session name, date, sport, comment or measurements you've entered and confirmed. Check the preview, then save the image on your phone if you want to keep it or share it elsewhere.

Publishing a memory in Foulevo and saving its image are two separate choices. If people appear in the photo, ask their permission before publishing it elsewhere. Also watch for private details the image might reveal.

A concrete example

A memory that fits in an image.

This card comes from a test in the Foulevo prototype for a fictional hike. It shows the exportable format, not a real outing or a post in Strava.

04 / If you'd likeA manual step in Strava

Add this memory to an existing Strava activity.

On your phone, open the relevant activity in Strava. According to its official help, tap the “⋯” menu, then “Edit Activity” and “Add Photos/Videos”. Select the Foulevo card saved in your photo library, tap “Add”, then “Update Activity”. Labels may vary with the app's language and version.

01In Foulevo

Save the memory image to your phone's photos.

02In Strava

Open your activity, edit it and choose this image from your photo library.

03Before confirming

Check the photo and the activity's visibility, then save the change.

This addition does not create a Strava activity or sync any data between accounts. You can just as easily keep the card to yourself. The stopwatch can tell the story of the effort; the photo can recall the conversations and the people you'd like to go out with again.

You may want to see the distance you've covered, then find the people you'd like to go out with again.
