Before you set off
Choose a route that matches your experience and available time. Check distance, elevation gain, terrain and expected duration. Then confirm your admission and plan how to reach the meeting point. Going together does not replace each person’s own preparation.
Read the route, not just the beautiful photo.
A view makes you want to go; the details help you decide. Check distance, elevation gain and the terrain description. Plan how you will reach the start and get home. A loop and a route finishing elsewhere need different arrangements.
If an AllTrails link has been added in Foulevo, check the route before requesting to join. This external link helps you explore the itinerary. It does not replace the exact meeting point, reserved for admitted participants, or checking the weather and conditions on the day.
Prepare the departure together.
Read the planned pace and breaks. Even a short outing may include a demanding section; duration is an estimate. Choose a proposal whose details you understand rather than assuming that the group can accommodate anything.
Once admitted, use the conversation to clarify the time, access, equipment and any changes. You can simply say “This is my first hike with a group”. The exact meeting point is in your confirmed session’s details.
Find your place at your own pace.
At the start, listen to the plan and how the group will stay together. If something differs from what you understood, discuss it before setting off. Enjoying the view, chatting or walking quietly can all have their place. You do not have to feel comfortable immediately.
A good hike can remain a memory or become another meeting. In Foulevo, you can find a group or stay in touch with people you met. The app connects people; it does not automatically provide professional supervision.
